T.Rextasy

1992 - 1995

In 1992 Danielz forms T.Rextasy. They debut in a Hackney pub on 18 September. The band receives excellent reviews from ‘Melody Maker’, and play with the ‘Heavy Metal Kids’ at London’s Marquee Club. T.Rextasy support Gary Glitter on his UK 1993 tour including Wembley Arena (where Danielz chats backstage to Marc Bolan’s wife, June).

Madman Records

Madman Records sign the band for a two-album/single deal. ‘Baby Factory’, an original song by Danielz, is released. ‘Quattro Records’ (Japan) sign T.Rextasy, and finance a video for ‘Baby Factory’.

Wembley and Sheffield Arenas

T.Rextasy play Wembley and Sheffield Arenas once again for Glitter’s ‘Xmas 1994’ concerts and still find time to play at Alexandra Palace in December for the 1994 Britannia Music Awards.

Band’s Debut Album

The band’s debut album ‘Trip and Glide in the Ballrooms of T.Rextasy’ is released in 1995. Dino Dines (T.Rex original keyboardist) contributes to the recording. Quattro (Japan) release the album with 2 foot high cut-outs of Danielz set up around record stores in Tokyo. A sell-out tour of Japan follows in September 1995. Danielz is given many gifts including two one-off T.Rex photo-printed album guitar straps.

1996 - 1999

A second tour of Japan begins in June. The 2 week tour includes the Ariake Coliseum, Tokyo (this performance is filmed and broadcast by NHK TV). Danielz meets David Bowie on the Bullet Train.

‘Savage Beethoven’ Released

T.Rextasy’s ‘Savage Beethoven’ CD album is released by Madman Records in the UK, and Columbia Records in Japan in 1997.

30th September 1997

On 30 September 1997 T.Rextasy headline at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in celebration of Bolan’s 50th Birthday. Mickey Finn (Marc’s conga player), Rolan Bolan (Marc’s son) and other ex-T.Rex members and Marc Bolan associates perform with the band. Over 1200 fans attend the show, and extracts are shown on VH1.

Celebratory Concert

Tony Visconti invites Danielz & Neil Cross to New York to attend a celebratory concert for Marc Bolan. Concert guests include Clem Burke (Blondie) on drums, Tony Visconti on bass, Lloyd Cole and others. Danielz plays two songs with Tony and Clem.

T.Rextasy

T.Rextasy play Germany, Denmark, Abu-Dhabi, Marrakech, Sweden and in the UK with Cockney Rebel, Uriah Heep, Roy Wood, Slade, Suzi Quatro, The Sweet, Ian Hunter, Ray Dorset and other original acts. ‘Fender Guitars’ endorse Danielz and Neil. Danielz is presented with a USA white Fender Stratocaster.

2000 - 2005

The band perform at the Billy Elliot Film Premiere Party in 2000. The Pet Shop Boys, Julie Walters, Kathy Burke, and Hugh Grant are some of the stars watching the performance. A live T.Rextasy CD - ‘The Crack of Dawn’ is issued on Solid Baby Records. T.Rextasy win “Best Live Tribute Band in the UK” on the BBC1 programme ‘Battle of the Fantasy Bands’ on 19 January 2001. Terry Wogan and Ulrika Jonsson present the show. The band record backing tracks of Marc Bolan songs for the album ‘Legacy’ (Anagram 2001). Ray Dorset (Mungo Jerry), Chris Farlowe, and others sing lead vocals. The album is also released in Russia.

Dino Dines

Dino Dines (T.Rex keyboard player) officially joins T.Rextasy in 2001. ‘20th Century Baby’, and ‘Jeepster’ (live) are included on the 2002 Japanese album ‘Universal Love’. Rolan Bolan performs once again with the band for the Marc Bolan 25th Anniversary Concert in London. On 28 January 2004 Dino Dines dies of heart failure.

‘Solid Gold T.Rextasy’

In 2005 T.Rextasy release ‘Solid Gold T.Rextasy’ – a CD compilation on Madman Records. The CD also includes an enhanced video of the band performing ‘Baby Factory’.

2006 - Present

In June 2006 Wizard [Bahamas] Limited “authorise and endorse T.Rextasy in their ability to keep Marc’s music alive and in the public eye in a professional and authentic manner.” From this point T.Rextasy legally become the world’s only ‘official’ tribute to Marc Bolan, and the only band that can rightfully use that title. On 29 December, BBC TV film T.Rextasy for a BBC TV ‘Arena’ special, including an interview with Danielz. Marc Bolan producer Tony Visconti joins T.Rextasy on bass guitar and vocals at their gig on 16 February 2007 at London’s 100 Club for ‘One Inch Rock’ and ‘Hot Love’. T.Rextasy feature in a Radio 2 programme entitled “Earth, Wind for Hire”, a documentary about the tribute band phenomenon.

London

The band play to 40,000, their biggest audience to date at the prestigious BBC Proms Night at Hyde Park, London in September 2007 (right).

15th September 2007

T.Rextasy, in association with The Performing Right Society, Nordoff Robbins, and Wizard [Bahamas] Limited organise a concert for Marc Bolan’s 30th Anniversary/60th Birthday at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire theatre on 15 September 2007. Guests performing alongside T.Rextasy include Gloria Jones, Tony Visconti, Andy Ellison, Eric Hall, Howie Casey, Marc Almond, Clem Burke, Dr Robert, Linda Lewis, Shakin’ Stevens, Neal X, and the Dirty Pretty Strings. In 2008 a DVD is officially released of the event (left).

Winter of 2008

In the Winter of 2008, the band release a Christmas single on Madman Records entitled ‘White Christmas’ c/w ‘I Love to Boogie’ and ‘Hot Love’.
